Even librarians love Wikipedia, but when working on a school project you need information that you know is accurate and up-to-date. Instead of turning to Google, try one of these suggested databases!

 

Inspire

INSPIRE is Indiana’s Virtual Online Library. INSPIRE is a collection of online academic databases and other information resources that can be accessed by Indiana residents.  

 

Here are some of our favorite databases accessible through INSPIRE.

 

Biography In Context

Easy to use! Search or browse for the person you’re studying; the search results will provide a brief biography and links to journal articles, encyclopedia entries, photos, videos, and more! Everything you need for a biography project in one place!

Indiana History Online

Perfect for a local or state history project! Contains primary source materials from Indiana’s history. Includes  a wide variety of old documents: personal narratives and memoirs, pamphlets and political speeches, sermons and songs, legal treatises, books, and children’s books. Also contains introductory essays and other educational materials that provide historical context.

Indiana Memory

Perfect for a local or state history project!Indiana Memory is a collaborative effort to provide access to the wealth of primary sources in Indiana libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural institutions. It is a gateway to Indiana’s history and culture found in digitized books, manuscripts, photographs, newspapers, maps, and other media. As a portal to the collections, Indiana Memory assists individuals to locate materials relevant to their interests and to better appreciate the connections between those materials.

Science In Context

Easy to use! Search or browse for a topic of interest. Search results will provide a quick summary and links to journal articles, encyclopedia entries, photos, videos, science experiments, and more!

Everything you need for a science fair project in one place!

Student Research Center

Access primary sources, books, encyclopedias, radio and TV transcripts, biographies, AND MORE! If you are doing a report on a state or country, select country reports OR state/province reports. Search for your topic and the first result will provide everything you need for your school assignment!

Testing and Education Reference Center

Preparing for the ACT or SAT? Need extra help studying for your AP exams? This database provides FREE practice tests and test prep materials! You will need to create an account to access and save practice tests, but it is 100% FREE!

Khan Academy has partnered with the SAT to provide FREE test prep materials to help you study! Visit the SAT dashboard to create your personalized study schedule. You can also sync your dashboard with collegeboard.org to recieve personalized study recommendations based on your past SAT scores. There are also FREE practice tests and sample questions designed to help you study better!
